Lucas Suar

The structural design expert
Born in 1977 in Argentina, Lucas Suar got into sailing via the Optimist at 5 years of age in San Pedro, a city of the Province of Buenos Aires. In addition to sampling the delights of sail boats, he regularly took to the water on his father’s motor boats. It is within the context of his studies at the National University of Quilmes that Lucas got to know Rodrigo Quesada. Through this contact, he joined the JYD team back in 2005 following a very enriching experience with Gino Gandino, a South American naval architect specialised in the design of luxury motor boats.

Enthusiasm and concentration
Mui Mui, a TP52 designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian’s team and built in Argentina, was one of the first creations Lucas was able to contribute to. Further down the line, the designer polished his skills in naval architecture within the Volvo Ocean Race on ABN Amro, together with a series of the firm’s other projects.
Enthusiastic and efficient, he has excellent powers of concentration. He is very experienced in structural design and, more recently, he has been able to bring his expertise to the fore for projects like the Volvo 70-Trifork and the ClubSwan 36.
Passionate about technology, he loves virtual aircraft piloting games and sails his yacht along the coast of Buenos Aires.

JK: “Lucas is someone who is very direct: he always says what he thinks and that enables us to move forward quickly. He is highly efficient and quick to realise his projects”.
